Luxury Dog Boarding near Granger, IN

Leaving your dog somewhere shouldn’t feel like a compromise. Bittersweet Pet Resorts has spent more than 25 years building the kind of boarding experience Granger-area families can hand their dog over to without second-guessing it — veterinarian-recommended standards, a staff that’s been doing this work a long time, and a building designed around dogs rather than convenience.

Granger sits just 20 minutes south of our Niles, MI resort at 2100 Weaver Road, close enough that drop-off doesn’t eat your morning. Once your dog is here, they get a private suite of their own, caregivers who learn their name and their habits within a day, and real time outside and inside to run, play, and be around other dogs if that’s their thing. Some dogs want a full social calendar; others want a quiet corner and a person to themselves. We build the stay around which one yours is. If you’re looking into dog boarding near Granger, we’d welcome the chance to show you around.

Why Granger Dog Owners Trust Us With Overnight Stays

Here’s what a stay at Bittersweet includes for every Granger-area guest:

  • Cameras cover the building continuously — there’s no stretch of the day when a dog isn’t being watched over.
  • Michiana weather swings hard between seasons; inside, the temperature holds steady regardless of what’s happening outdoors.
  • Cleaning protocols were developed with veterinary input and get followed the same way every single day, not just before tours.
  • Ventilation pulls fresh air through the building nonstop, so indoor spaces never take on that closed-in kennel smell.
  • Our care team lays eyes on each guest several times daily, tracking appetite, energy, and general condition.
  • Nothing here runs on autopilot — your dog’s quirks, schedule, and personality shape how their stay is handled.
  • Four outdoor breaks a day is our baseline, worked into the schedule rather than squeezed in when there’s a gap.
  • Raised feeding stations, soft bedding, and similar small details that make a stay feel restful instead of institutional.
  • Lighting and furnishings chosen to read as home-like — closer to a guest room than a kennel run.

Enrichment and Play Options for Granger Boarding Guests

Maybe your dog is coming straight from a loop around St. Patrick’s County Park, or maybe you just need somewhere solid while you’re out of town. Either way, a Bittersweet stay comes with real activity built in:

  • Group Play – Social dogs get turned loose with compatible playmates in a fenced, staff-monitored yard, where making new friends is most of the appeal.
  • Private Play – Crowds aren’t for every dog. This option hands your pup a staff member to themselves for walking, games, and plain old attention — no other dogs involved.
  • Puppy Package – Built for our youngest guests, this layers in extra play blocks and more frequent trips outside, so housetraining progress doesn’t stall while you’re away.
  • Old Soul Package – Senior guests set their own pace, with orthopedic bedding underfoot, gentler stretching and mobility activities, and medication timing tracked by staff so doses land when they should.
  • Bedtime Pampering – The day closes out with a quiet tuck-in and bedtime story — a little calm and affection before the lights go down.

How We Keep Every Dog Safe and Well

A dog arriving from Granger gets the exact same standard as one arriving from Niles, Mishawaka, or anywhere else we serve. Safety isn’t a policy document here — it’s the operating system:

  • First-time guests are evaluated for temperament before any group introduction happens, which keeps playgroups predictable and pairings sensible.
  • No part of the facility operates unattended — supervision isn’t sampled, it’s constant.
  • Attention comes from people who’ve done this work for years, not a rushed pass between other tasks.
  • Vaccination records have to be current before check-in, and we don’t make exceptions on that one.
  • Climate systems and security run continuously and in tandem, keeping the building both secure and comfortable.
  • Fresh air moves through the space around the clock, so indoor areas stay genuinely clean-smelling rather than stuffy.
  • Deep-cleaning routines fully reset every space between guests.

From the moment a dog walks in to the moment you load them back in the car, the goal doesn’t change — a stay that’s safe, comfortable, and worth their time. That holds for Granger guests and for every community Bittersweet serves.

Dog Boarding FAQ

What vaccines does my dog need to stay?

For the safety of all our guests, we require dogs be up to date on their vaccinations for rabies, DHLPP (distemper), and Bordetella.

Starting July 1st, all dogs will be required to have the leptospirosis (lepto) vaccine in addition to distemper/parvo, rabies, and bordetella. Many veterinarians include lepto within the distemper/parvo combination (often listed as DHLPP), though it may also be administered separately (DHPP).

When can I drop off and pick up my pet?

Check-in can be any time during our operating hours. We recommend dropping off a bit before closing so your pet has time to settle in. You can also check-out any time during business hours, but if you pick up before 12 noon Monday-Saturday you won’t be charged the nightly rate. On Sundays, the day charge always applies.

Our operating hours are:

  • Monday-Friday 7:30 am-7:00 pm
  • Saturday 8:00 am-4:00 pm

Dog Daycare near Granger, IN

Between commutes down Cleveland Road and days that run longer than planned, plenty of Granger dogs end up home alone more than their owners would like. Daycare at Bittersweet swaps that empty house for a full day of movement, company, and supervision.

  • Between open grass and purpose-built turf, there’s room to sprint flat-out, work through enrichment toys, and come home actually tired.
  • Every yard is ringed with secure fencing, and staff stay near enough to head off trouble before it turns into anything.
  • Hot afternoons mean splash pools and shade; when a dog’s had enough of the weather either direction, climate-controlled lounges are right there.
  • Dogs aren’t just dumped into one big group — we sort by size, temperament, and play style so the matchups make sense.
  • Prefer something calmer? Smaller, quieter sessions work well for seniors and for dogs who’d rather skip the commotion.
  • Most months bring a new themed activity to the calendar, so daycare doesn’t settle into the same day on repeat.

Dog Training near Granger, IN

Granger families who want a calmer, more responsive dog — and a better relationship with them — can work with Bittersweet’s professional training team.

    • Lodge-n-Learn Training Program – Training folds directly into a boarding stay. Your dog works daily one-on-one with an experienced trainer toward specific obedience and behavior targets, and you go home with the tools and written guidance to hold the line once they’re back.
    • Play & Train Evaluation Program – Before anything formal starts, our team figures out how your particular dog learns — what motivates them, how fast they pick things up, where they get stuck — then shapes the program around that, using positive reinforcement to sharpen commands and build confidence.

Steady training takes pressure off the dog and the household both, and the families who keep practicing at home are the ones who see it stick.

Why Granger Pet Parents Choose Bittersweet Pet Resorts

Granger has a particular rhythm to it: subdivisions with sidewalks, plenty of green between them, and a state line close enough that plenty of families cross it without thinking twice. Dog owners here have an unusually good set of options within ten or fifteen minutes — the wooded trails and river frontage at St. Patrick’s County Park, Madeline Bertrand County Park just across into Michigan, the paved Riverwalk down in Mishawaka, and the Notre Dame campus for an easy evening lap when you want pavement and people-watching. Even the errand runs tend to come with a dog in the back seat; the shops and patios around Heritage Square see plenty of leashes on a nice afternoon.

All of which means Granger dogs are used to a fairly active life, and their owners tend to notice when somewhere doesn’t measure up to it. That’s the bar we’re aiming at. When you’re traveling for work, taking a long weekend, hosting a house full of people, or heading out for a game weekend, our Niles resort is just 20 minutes north on US-12 and set up so your dog’s week doesn’t shrink down to a concrete box. Same suites, same staff, same standard our Michiana families have relied on for over 25 years — close enough to Granger that convenience never has to be the reason you settle.

How to Get Here from Granger

Granger families have two Bittersweet locations in reach, though for most households the Niles resort is the obvious pick — it’s a twenty-minute run north and the closest of the three.

To our Niles location:Starting in Granger, take IN-23 S/Adams Rd west — you’ll pass a McDonald’s on your left within about half a mile. Stay with Adams Rd as it feeds into Gumwood Rd, following that pair roughly 5.2 miles into Milton Township, where you’ll pick up US-12 W. Hold US-12 W for another 6.4 miles through Bertrand Township until Weaver Rd comes up. From there it’s a final 0.8 miles on Weaver Rd to our front door. The whole trip runs about 20 minutes and just under 13 miles.

To our Kalamazoo Area location (Three Rivers, MI): Head out toward Bittersweet Trail — a name Granger dog owners tend to enjoy — passing a Dairy Queen Grill & Chill on your right, and continue about 1.6 miles before the road becomes M-62 N. You’ll cross into Michigan roughly half a mile later. Take the right onto Redfield St and stay on it for 6 miles, then bear slightly left onto M-205 for another 1.1 miles. At the traffic circle, exit second onto US-12 and settle in for 10.7 miles. A left onto N River Rd carries you 5.3 miles, and a final left onto US-131 covers the last 14.1 miles to the resort. Plan on roughly 39 miles end to end.

Both resorts run the same standards, the same training, and the same daily routines — so Granger families should simply book whichever drive suits them better.
