Some days just run long. A shift stretches past six, an appointment pulls you across town, or a Saturday fills up with errands from one end of Hobart to the other. Our Northwest Indiana location in Valparaiso is only about 22 minutes away, with its entrance right on U.S. Highway 6. Pack Pro Program

Rather than treating it as a credential to hang on the wall, we use Pack Pro certification as the framework behind every daycare and day school session at Bittersweet. Pack Pro is a national consulting organization within the pet care industry, and its focus is helping daycare facilities strengthen how staff are trained and how programs are run. Without that kind of structure, a room full of playing dogs can quickly tip into overstimulation, with constant noise, frantic energy, and very little order. That is precisely what the Pack Pro approach is designed to prevent. Daycares that follow it tend to report fewer barking frenzies, fewer play sessions that escalate into roughhousing, fewer escape attempts at open gates, and fewer play-related injuries, while their teams become more skilled, more confident, and happier in their roles. At our Northwest Indiana location, all of that adds up to a steadier, safer, and more rewarding day for every Hobart dog in our care.

What a Daycare Visit Looks Like for Hobart Pups

Your dog is more than a name on a check-in clipboard here. A typical visit to our dog daycare facility near Hobart, IN includes:

  • Indoor play spaces and wide-open play yards with both turf and natural grass, so there’s room to sprint, chase, and wrestle until the zoomies run out
  • Agility-style obstacles and a toy lineup that changes often, keeping each visit from feeling like a repeat of the last
  • High, secure fencing around every outdoor area, letting dogs enjoy off-leash play safely
  • Splash pools and shady spots for cooling off when summer heat settles over Northwest Indiana
  • Playgroups sorted by size, energy, and temperament instead of simply grouping whoever arrived that morning
  • Hands-on supervision from team members who know each dog personally and stay in the middle of the action
  • Scheduled downtime in a climate-controlled rest area, so dogs can catch their breath before heading back out

Brain Games & Enrichment for Hobart Daycare Dogs

Our 5 pillars of Enrichment are:

Nutritional | Sensory Stimulation | Intellectual Enrichment | Social Engagement | Physical Environment

Enrichment at our dog daycare facility near Hobart, IN tires out your dog’s mind right alongside their muscles. Over the course of the day, pups work through puzzle feeders, track down hidden scents, socialize with their playgroup, and tackle problem-solving games that tap into instincts dogs are born with. The payoff is less boredom and more self-assurance with every visit. Each month also brings a fresh theme to keep things lively, with past favorites ranging from “Down on the Farm” to “Mystery Murder,” so the program never settles into a rut.

Our Scent Space takes a different approach. In this quiet, dedicated room, dogs rely on their noses rather than sight or sound to solve each challenge. Don’t let the simplicity fool you: a quarter hour of focused sniffing can leave a dog about as mentally spent as a long walk leaves them physically. That’s especially valuable for nervous pups and high-drive dogs, since nose work is often one of the quickest routes to a more relaxed, settled state of mind.

The Case for Daycare Over a Quiet House in Hobart

  • Running, playing, and interacting aren’t extras for a dog; they’re needs, and daycare meets them with supervision rather than leaving them unmet.
  • Hours alone at home mean missed exercise and missed mental engagement, while most Bittersweet daycare dogs head home calm and content instead of restless.
  • With a dependable outlet for their energy, many dogs show fewer boredom-driven behaviors like nonstop barking, destructive chewing, or house-training setbacks.
  • Veterinarians and behavior professionals routinely highlight socialization as essential to a well-balanced dog, and daycare makes it simple to work into a weekly routine.

Dog Daycare FAQs

What vaccinations does my dog need to join daycare?

For the safety of all our guests, we require dogs be up to date on their vaccinations for rabies, DHLPP (distemper), and Bordetella.

Starting July 1st, all dogs will be required to have the leptospirosis (lepto) vaccine in addition to distemper/parvo, rabies, and bordetella. Many veterinarians include lepto within the distemper/parvo combination (often listed as DHLPP), though it may also be administered separately (DHPP).

Can I come in for a tour?

We’d love to show you our facility! Please visit during regular business hours Monday through Saturday and our staff will be happy to take you on a tour.

Do you require a trial evaluation?

Since every dog’s safety and comfort is so important to us, your dog’s first day of daycare starts with a good observation of their personality and play style so we can match them up with the best playmates. We ask they visit us for at least 4-6 hours on this first day.

What will my dog be doing at daycare?

Each pup enjoys all day play from approximately 9am to 4pm. They have plenty of space to run around with friends inside our indoor play area and our outdoor play yard, weather permitting! We utilize crating for resting periods and to help engrain positive crate training skills in all our furry friends!

Do you require reservations for daycare?

We do ask you please give us a call to schedule your appointment. This is to ensure we have all the necessary information such as vaccination records, contact information, and medical information.

When can I drop off and pick up?

We suggest dropping off before 10am to ensure your pup gets as much playtime as possible. For daycare check-out, we ask you please pick up by 7pm.

Why Hobart Pet Parents Choose Bittersweet Pet Resorts

In Hobart, a good dog walk is never far away. The paved Oak Savannah Trail heads west out of town toward Griffith and passes through Hobart Prairie Grove, a roughly 300-acre part of Indiana Dunes National Park known for its rare bur oak savanna, with a handy trailhead lot at Robinson Lake Park on South Liverpool Road. When a dog needs to run without a leash, families can head to nearby fenced spaces like Woodland Dog Park in Portage or Dogwood Run at Lemon Lake County Park in Crown Point. Hobart pet parents clearly value active, social time for their dogs on the weekends, so it makes sense they want their dogs’ weekdays to measure up.

Dog daycare near Hobart, IN fills that gap. Instead of eight or more hours alone while you’re at work, shuttling kids to practice, or tackling errands around Hobart, your dog spends the day playing, resting, and being looked after by people who genuinely know them. Our Northwest Indiana location in Valparaiso is an easy drive of about 22 minutes, making it simple for Hobart households to give their dogs the same kind of full, engaging day they’d plan for themselves.

How to Get Here from Hobart

Make a right at the end of that stretch, and our Northwest Indiana facility at 19 West U.S. Highway 6, Valparaiso, IN 46385, will appear on your left only a few hundred feet later. All told, the trip covers about 11.1 miles and takes around 22 minutes.
